The short answer to this question is yes aaaand…no. If the tempered glass protector is your only form of protection then no. If you combine it with a case of some sort then yes.
What really is tempered glass?
Basically, Toughened or tempered glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the inner surfaces into tension.
How is it Made?
It is made by heating the glass and then cooling it very quickly. This type of glassbreaks differently than normal glass, creating more rounded edges of glass pieces instead of jagged shards that regular glass creates. A tempered glass protector is a multi-layered screen protector. It has a bottom layer of absorbent silicon, PET film and an optically clear adhesive tempered glass and oleophobic coating in that order.
Tempered glass is up to five times stronger than normal glass. While undergoing a shock, it shatters into very small pieces, and this helps in protection of the inner screen.
Tempered glass can resist scratches from pointed sharp object and can even absorb shock when you occasionally drop your phone, thus protecting your display. With more severe falls, tempered glass will shatter in to small pieces but your display will remain intact.
Tempered Glass screen protectors are better than plastic ones for a number of reasons. The main one is the better feel and look. It is a glass finish it will stay in good condition for longer. it is better for scratches and works a lot better in daylight.
Jessups IT & Computers has tempered glass protectors for most common phones and if they don’t have the one you need, ask one of the friendly staff to order one for you. Most protectors cost around $15.
